Aims
As a Network, we acknowledge the work of progressive individuals, activists, and organisations—especially those from minoritised and marginalised communities—who have pursued social justice at huge personal cost. Our intention is to learn from those who have gone before us with humility and openness. With that in mind, our provisional aims—open to dialogue, disagreement, and revision—are as follows:
To explore the interface between ideas and practices in the therapeutic field and in the domain of progressive social change.
To influence research, training, conversations, and actions towards social justice and greater wellbeing of all.
To continuously explore how power, structural inequality, and systems of oppression operate within—and outside of—our community; and to work towards more just social structures.
To increase the diversity and accessibility of our work and our impact.
To continuously explore how our personal experiences impact the work we do: both in this community and in the wider social and political domain.
To be welcoming to everyone who wishes to join us; regardless of their profession, qualifications, location, or social positioning.
To provide nurturing conditions for all our members, facilitating collaboration and growth.
To move forward as a community with gratitude, kindness, compassion, and mutual respect—alongside a willingness to challenge each other and be open to challenge and change.
To collaborate with all those engaging in therapy and social change work today, and with those who are working in related fields.
To recognise that: we are a journey, not a destination; we can be small and dream big; we are a fluid and emergent community open to change.
